专利说明:
A conventional hub reduction gear of a motor vehicle is a sound source that can cause noise problems and also prevent noise certification of the vehicle. Thus, there is a need to attenuate the noise generated by a hub reduction gear of a vehicle. It is known that the noise from a hub reduction gear can be reduced by using obliquely toothed teeth instead of straight-cut teeth of the hubs of the hub reduction gear, as described, for example, in EP 0 823 346 B1. A disadvantage of such a solution, however, is that the manufacture of the hub reduction gear becomes more expensive. It is also previously known that noise from a vehicle wheel can be attenuated by mounting on the vehicle wheel a muffler device in the form of a hub cap which is provided on its inside with sound-absorbing material or a sound-absorbing resonator, as described in EP 0 776 773 B1. OBJECT OF THE INVENTION The object of the present invention is to provide a simple and cost-effective muffler device which can effectively attenuate the sound from a hub reduction gear. SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION According to the present invention, said object is achieved by means of a muffler device having the features defined in claim 1. The muffler device according to the invention is intended for such a vehicle wheel which is mounted on a wheel axle provided with hub reduction gear where a bell hub of the hub reduction gear extends through a centrally arranged opening in the vehicle wheel rim and into a cavity of the wheel wheel delimited by the rim. , the muffler device comprising: - a cover plate designed to cover the outwardly facing opening of said cavity, said cover plate having an inside which is intended to face said bell hub and an opposite outside, and - a sound-absorbing element of porous sound-absorbing material arranged on the inside of the cover plate and formed after said bell hub and said rim so that the sound-absorbing element, when the muffler device is mounted on said vehicle wheel, abuts and encloses the front free end of said bell hub and also abuts the vehicle wheel rim inside said cavity while filling at least one d el of the space found between the bell hub and the rim in said hollow fUm. The cover plate of the muffler device helps to shield the hub reduction gear from the surroundings and sound waves generated by the hub reduction gear are closed off by the cover plate inside the cavity of the vehicle wheel delimited by the rim. The sound-absorbing element of the muffler device absorbs the sound waves which are kept trapped by the cover plate in said cavity, whereby the noise level of the vehicle wheel is reduced. The contact of the sound-absorbing element with the bell hub and the rim also gives rise to a frictional effect which dampens the vibrations of the hub reduction gear and this vibration damping contributes to reducing the noise level of the vehicle wheel. By combining shielding, sound absorption and vibration damping in this way, the muffler device according to the invention can reduce the noise level of the vehicle wheel in a very effective manner. The muffler device according to the invention is also simple in its construction and can be manufactured in a simple manner and at a relatively low cost. A further advantage of the muffler device according to the invention is that it can be easily and quickly mounted on a vehicle wheel and in the event of damage or degradation can be easily and quickly removed from a vehicle wheel for replacement with a new and complete muffler device. According to an embodiment of the invention, the sound-absorbing element is made of foam plastic. Foam plastic is a porous sound-absorbing material that is inexpensive and which is also easy to shape to a watch hub and rim. Furthermore, foam plastic has a sufficient rigidity to be able to effectively dampen vibrations of the bell hub. According to another embodiment of the invention, the sound-absorbing element has such a shape that it can be mounted with a tight fit in said cavity. This ensures that the sound-absorbing element has a good contact with the bell hub and the rim, so that the sound-absorbing element can effectively dampen vibrations of the bell hub. The fit also holds the sound-absorbing element to the watch hub and rim. According to another embodiment of the invention, the sound-absorbing element is molded to the bell hub and rim. This ensures that the sound-absorbing element has a good fit in the space between the bell hub and the rim. Other advantageous features of the muffler device according to the invention appear from the dependent claims and the following description. BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS The invention will be described in more detail below with the aid of exemplary embodiments, with reference to the accompanying drawings. Fig. 1 shows a schematic perspective view of vehicle wheels mounted on a wheel axle provided with hub reduction gear, Fig. 2 a longitudinal section through the vehicle wheels according to Fig. 1, Fig. 3 a perspective view of a muffler device according to the present invention, Fig. 4 a longitudinal section through the muffler device according to Figs. 3 mounted on the outermost vehicle wheel according to Figs. 1 and 2, and Fig. 5 a section along the line VV in Fig. 4. DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF EMBODIMENTS OF THE INVENTION Figures 1 and 2 illustrate a vehicle wheel 1 mounted on a driving wheel axle 2 of a motor vehicle. This vehicle wheel 1 thus constitutes a drive wheel of the vehicle in question. The vehicle wheel 1 is of conventional type and comprises a rim 3 and a tire 4 mounted on the rim. The vehicle wheel 1 is connected to the driving wheel axle 2 via a hub reduction gear 5, which is arranged at an outer end of the wheel axle 2. Via this hub reduction gear 5 transmits torque from the wheel axle 2 to the vehicle wheel 1. The hub reduction gear 5 consists of a cylindrical planetary gear which provides a downshift of the speed between the driving wheel axle 2 and the vehicle wheel 1 and a corresponding upshift of the drive torque. The hub reduction gear 5 is of a conventional type and comprises a sun gear, a number of planet wheels, a planet gear holder and a ring gear arranged inside a bell hub 6. The components of the hub reduction gear 5 arranged inside the bell hub 6 are designed and arranged in a conventional manner known to those skilled in the art. in the accompanying drawings. The planet gears surround the sun gear and engage it, while the ring gear surrounds the planet gears and engages them. The sun gear is attached to the driving wheel shaft 2 to rotate together with it. The planet wheels can, for example, be three in number and are rotatably mounted in the planet wheel holder. The ring gear has internal teeth, via which the ring wheel engages with the planet gears. The bell hub 6 is rotatably connected either to the planet gear holder or to the ring gear. The bell hub 6 extends through an opening 7 in the rim 3 of the vehicle wheel and into a cavity 8 of the vehicle wheel delimited by the rim. Said opening 7 is centrally arranged in a radially extending portion of the rim 3. In the axial direction towards the wheel axle 2 and in the radial direction the cavity 8 is limited by wall surfaces of the rim 3 and in the axial direction away from the wheel axle the cavity 8 has an outward turn opening 9 surrounded by an annular end portion 10 of the rim. The rim 3 is rotatably connected to the bell hub 6 by means of fastening means 11 for rotating together with the bell hub. In the illustrated example, the rim 3 is provided with through holes (not shown) which are distributed around the central opening 7. A number of threaded pins (not shown) are fixedly connected to the bell hub 6 and distributed around it. These pins extend through each of said holes in the rim 3 and the rim is fixed to the bell hub 6 by means of wheel nuts 11 which are screwed onto the pins. Fig. 3 illustrates a muffler device 20 according to an embodiment of the present invention. This muffler device 20 is intended to be mounted on a vehicle wheel 1 of the type illustrated in Figs. 1 and 2 in order to attenuate the sound emitted from the hub reduction gear 5. The muffler device 20 comprises a cover plate 21 which is designed to cover the outwardly facing opening 9 of the above-mentioned cavity 8 of the rim 3. This cover plate 21 has an inside 21a which is intended to face the bell hub 6 extending into the cavity 8 and a opposite outside 21b. The cover plate 21 is suitably designed to completely close the outwardly facing opening 9 of the cavity 8 in order to prevent sound waves from penetrating from the cavity 8 via this opening 9. When the muffler device 20 is mounted on the vehicle wheel 1, the cover plate 21 abuts the annular rim of the rim. end portion 10, as illustrated in Fig. 4. The cover plate 21 may be made of a rigid and light sandwich material or consist of a homogeneous plate of hard plastic or metal. Advantageously (MPM = Metal-Plastic-Metal) with shells of thin metal sheet, the cover plate 21 is made of MPM material on either side of a viscoelastic middle layer. The muffler device 20 further comprises a sound-absorbing element 22 of porous sound-absorbing material which is attached to the cover plate 21, for example by gluing. The sound-absorbing element 22 is arranged on the inside 21a of the cover plate and formed after the bell hub 6 and the rim 3 so that the sound-absorbing element 22, when the muffler device 20 is mounted on the vehicle wheel 1, abuts and encloses at least the front free end of the bell hub 6 and also abuts the rim 3 inside the above-mentioned cavity 8 of the rim while filling at least a part of the space found between the bell hub 6 and the rim 3 in this cavity 8. The sound-absorbing element 22 is self-supporting and dimensionally stable and is suitably made of foam plastic. On its side facing away from the cover plate 21, the sound-absorbing element 22 is provided with a centrally arranged recess 23 which is formed after the front free end of the bell hub 6 of the hub reduction gear. On its side facing away from the cover plate 21, the sound-absorbing the element 22 is further provided with a number of smaller recesses 24 which are distributed around the central recess 23 and which are formed after the wheel nuts 11. The sound-absorbing element 22 is advantageously molded after the bell hub 6 and the rim 3. The sound-absorbing element 22 abuts the front end surface 6a of the bell hub via a bottom surface 23a of the central recess 23 and also abuts the bell surface 6b of the bell hub via a cylindrical inner wall surface 23b of the central recess 23. Via its circumferential surface 25 the sound-absorbing element 22 abuts against the rim 3. The sound-absorbing element 22 encapsulates the front end of the bell hub 6 and also forms a radial support for the bell hub. The sound-absorbing element 22 should be designed to fill at least 50%, preferably at least 75%, of the space remaining between the cover plate 21, the bell hub 6 and the rim 3 in the cavity 8 when the muffler device 20 is mounted on the vehicle wheel 1 In the illustrated example, the sound absorbing element 22 is designed to fill substantially all of the space found between the cover plate 21, the bell hub 6 and the rim 3 in the cavity 8 when the muffler device 20 is mounted on the vehicle wheel. The sound-absorbing element 22 advantageously has such a shape that it can be mounted with a tight fit in the cavity 8. The muffler device 20 could be designed to be held to the vehicle wheel 1 by this fit. As an alternative to or complement to this fit, the muffler device 20 could comprise fastening means 26 for fixing the cover plate 21 to the rim 3. These fastening means 26 are connected to the cover plate 21 and are arranged to engage with the rim 3. In the illustrated example, the above-mentioned vehicle wheel 1 is mounted on a wheel axle with double mounting and in this case an additional vehicle wheel 1 'is mounted on the wheel axle parallel to and inside the first-mentioned vehicle wheel 1. However, the muffler device 20 according to the invention would of course also can be applied to a vehicle wheel that is mounted on a wheel axle with a chassis assembly. The invention is of course in no way limited to the embodiments described above, but a number of possibilities for modifications thereof should be obvious to a person skilled in the art, without this for that reason deviating from the basic idea of the invention as defined in the appended claims. .
